International
So what does it take to get from North Carolina to Bangkok, Thailand? Apparently $1,079 and 9,000 miles. Holy crap. Count down to that adventure beings...now.
Make sure them boots come up well over your ankles. Honestly, I'd take a pair of fast drying Jungle Boots along. Your feet is going to sweat in water proof boots. I'd take both. Malaria pills never bothered me. But, I know of it making some queezy. I've not heard about Wiggly. It will take her months. Maybe never.
Poor baby, maybe she can just be a good family dog. She was awfully cute. Although, I bet Cesar Milan (Dog Whisperer) could help fix her ;) It seems he can fix just about anything.
Jungle boots? Good suggestion, will have to do some research on that since space is really limited.
Yeah, I ended up getting the slightly more expensive malaria pills because the cheaper ones made some people sick. From what my prof. says - the dreams you have on the pills are kind of crazy. So it looks like I will get to see what its like on drugs after all, lol.
The interesting thing I learned about malaria at the travel clinic though, apparently only certain drugs work in certain areas. So if I had left over malaria pills from my Thailand trip and then went to say, Afghanistan...they would not be as effective. Kind of makes me wish my ancestors developed a natural protection against it like equatorial Africans have.

How's progress?
I need a good pair of water resistant hiking boots and a fairly roomy hiking backpack, but I've got my first digging trowel - so that's exciting.
Oh and I got my typhoid shot and malaria pills, apparently malaria is the gift that keeps on giving so will do my best to stay away from that.
Hows your dog that you sent away for socializing? Is she becoming more social?
